Ward Information
ElectionsGeneral: The eight-member Council is elected to four-year terms on a nonpartisan basis with staggered terms of office. The council members are elected by ward and the Mayor is elected at-large. Terms are staggered so four council members, one from each ward, are elected every two years. The Mayor is elected by all voters in the City every four years.
The wards are designated as follows:
Ward IWard I encompasses the quadrant of the City of Haysville that is north of the center of Grand Avenue (71st Street South) extending north to the city limits and west of the center of North Main Street (Seneca), extending to the western edge of the city limits.
Ward IIWard II encompasses the quadrant of the City of Haysville that is north of the center of Grand Avenue extending north to the northernmost city limits and east of the center of North Main Street to the eastern edge of the city limits.
Ward IIIWard III encompasses the quadrant of the City of Haysville that is south of the center of Grand Avenue extending to the southernmost city limits and east of the center of German Avenue to the easternmost edge of the city limits.
Ward IVWard IV encompasses the quadrant of the City of Haysville that is south of the center of Grand Avenue extending south to the south edge of the city limits and west of the center of German Avenue to the westernmost edge of the city limits.
To be eligible to hold office, the candidate must live in the ward for which the resident seeks office, and must be a registered voter. Candidates for Mayor must live within the Haysville city limits and be a registered voter.
Voting Places: Ward I, III & IV, First Christian Church, 7465 S. Meridian. Ward II, Haysville Activity Center, 7106 S. Broadway.
Citizens may register to vote at City Hall or the Sedgwick County Election Office.
