Welcome to the City Haysville, a full-service community! Haysville is located just south of Wichita in Sedgwick County, Kansas.  Despite Haysville's closeness to Wichita, the community manages to preserve a small-town atmosphere.

 

Transportation

With direct access to the Kansas Turnpike at 71st Street South, via its own interchange, Haysville residents can be in the heart of Wichita within 15 minutes.  Or, they can choose to drive into the city via U.S. 81 or I-135.  All routes are fast and convenient, putting opportunities for additional education, entertainment, and jobs within easy driving distance.  Haysville residents can also reach Wichita's Mid-Continent Airport within a 20-minute drive and the McConnell Air Force Base is within a 10-minute drive.

 

Education

The Haysville School System combines the personalized spirit of a small town with a highly qualified staff, challenging curriculum and resources normally associated with larger communities. The entire staff is committed to providing effective instruction so all students learn and achieve to high levels. The district provides programs for children from birth through the twelfth grade. Quality of Life

The City has 7 developed city parks, 3 hike/bike trails, and a community swimming pool.  The Haysville Senior Center provides a variety of programs for the senior adults in the community.  There are many recreational and fitness programs and services available to all ages at the Haysville Activity Center. Several organized sporting opportunities are available for children and adults to participate in. The Haysville Community Library offers activities year-round.

 

Haysville has excellent health care services available from a variety of doctors and dentists with full-service offices and clinics in the community.

 

Many community events are offered throughout the year by civic organizations, churches and the schools.  The Haysville Fall Festival is the largest event, lasting three days with a carnival, car show, crafts and special entertainment.

 

Emergency Services

Haysville has its own Police Department, which means one can usually expect response time to an emergency to be at/under five minutes. The Sedgwick County Fire Department Station #34 is located one mile west of Haysville.  Ambulance and emergency medical services are provided by Sedgwick County EMS, located in town.

 

Housing

Haysville currently has several housing options for those wanting to locate in Haysville.  There are six new housing developments with a wide range in prices, apartment complexes, one senior housing apartment, existing homes for sale and several duplex and single-family rental options.

Home and Apartment Rental Contacts

Emergency Services

The Haysville Police Department is reminding citizens to be aware of their motor vehicles at all times.

Lock all vehicle doors.

Remove all items of value, including in the trunk and glove box.

Park vehicles in a well lit area.

Leave your porch light on.

Park in a driveway.

If possible, park vehicles in a garage or other secure location.

Report any suspicious activity to the Police Department, 529-5911.

Need Your Blood Pressure Checked? - You can get your blood pressure checked at the Haysville Activity Center for FREE!  The Fire Department personnel can check blood pressure whenever they are here. Look for their fire trucks in the parking lot. Our Fitness/Wellness Supervisor is also available to do checks during designated hours (call 529-5922 for available times).

 

Resident Recycling Services

Haysville Public Works - 401 S. Jane

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - Noon; 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

1st and 3rd Saturdays of April-September, 8:30am - 12:30pm

Cost: Free

Items Accepted: Limbs, branches, concrete, non-refrigerated white goods, car engine oil, lawn equipment oil, and diesel oil. Please no antifreeze.

This service is available to Haysville residents only.  Residents will be required to provide vehicle information and proof of residency. For more information contact Public Works at 529-5940.

 

City Council Meetings

The Haysville City Council meets on the 2nd and 4th Mondays at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 200 W. Grand. Meetings are broadcast live on Cable Channel 7 and are rebroadcast at various times. View Channel 7 for broadcast times. Meeting dates are adjusted for holidays.

 

Haysville Events and Information

The City of Haysville provides many avenues for citizens and groups to find out what is going on in Haysville and to post their activities that are open to the public. Haysville has a public access channel, Channel 7, that broadcasts events, information videos, public service announcements, City Council Meetings, and Planning Commission Meetings. A Community Information Sign, located in front of City Hall, displays upcoming events and road closings. This website provides a Community Calendar that displays upcoming meetings and events. 

 

Building Permits

A building permit is required for new construction, additions, alterations, renovations, relocations, and repairs or rehabilitation of a building or structure. Some minor repairs do not require a permit. Electrical, mechanical and plumbing permits may also be required.  A building permit may be obtained at Public Works, 401 S. Jane. For more information on the types of projects that require a permit, visit the Inspections page, or call Public Works at 529-5940.

 

Water/Sewer Payment Information

Utility bills are mailed so customers receive them on the 1st of the month if at all possible. Something to remember is that the utility bill received the first of the month is actually for water used two months prior. More information about setting up your account, transferring service, rates, and extensions is available on the City Clerk's page.

Automatic Payments: You can have your water bill automatically deducted from your checking or savings account. Payments are deducted on the 15th of each month. Complete the Authorization Form and return it to City Hall with a voided check or deposit slip to begin this service.

 

Open Records Act

Public records can be accessed by completing a request for the specific record needed. A citizen can either view the record, with an employee present, or obtain a copy of the record if it is in a format that can be easily copied. Fees are based on the time required for an employee to produce and/or reproduce the record.

 

The City Clerk serves as the Freedom of Information Officer and is available in case of disputes about whether or not a record is "public."

All businesses in the City of Haysville must have a business registration/license.  The initial fee is $10.00 with an annual renewal fee of $5.00.  Applications are available at City Hall.

Sign Regulations

All permanent, portable and temporary commercial signs require a sign permit.  Applications for a permit are available at Public Works, 401 S. Jane, Haysville.
