The Haysville Senior Center is available to any area resident age 55 or over. The Red Cross Good Neighbor Nutrition Program (GNNP) provides noon meals for those who can attend the center, and volunteers also deliver meals to those who are home bound. The Senior Center allows for expanded seating for GNNP lunches. There is a large commons area, a computer bank, a large activity room that can be divided into two separate areas with a large movable wall. The Senior Center also includes a new state of the art kitchen and pantry.
Senior Center Dedication Bricks
The new Senior Center has a Dedication Garden with individual personalized bricks. We still have room to add additional bricks. If you are interested in ordering a brick, you can either come by the Senior Center and pick up a form or download a form. Each brick costs $25.
Programs
Members of the Center play a variety of card games; work on puzzles and share experiences with others in the community. The center offers several exercise programs, craft classes, computer classes and educational opportunities along with information on services available to seniors. We also have a Wii which seniors enjoy the bowling and other games. You don't actually throw a real ball though. We have formed a bowling team to compete with other senior centers in the area. You can enjoy the fun by joining in or simply watching other seniors participate.
Good Neighbor Nutrition Program
The Red Cross provides meals through the Good Neighbor Nutrition Program and the Center currently serves 45-50 people who eat at the Senior Center. There are another 40 who are home bound and are delivered meals by volunteers.
Commodities
Commodities are distributed monthly, when available, to those who meet income guidelines.
If you are interested in becoming a member or signing up for any of these programs please contact the Senior Center at 529-5903.
