The Public Works Department consists of the following functions:

  • Code Enforcement/Nuisance Abatement - Regulates and enforces City ordinances concerning unsafe structures, nuisances and abandoned/junked vehicles.

  • Fleet Maintenance - Provides corrective and preventive maintenance and modification of the City's vehicle/equipment fleet based on manufacturer recommendations and user requests.

  • Inspections/Permitting - Regulates and enforces City ordinances concerning housing, fencing and commercial buildings through plan review, issuance of building permits, licensing of contractors and construction inspection.

  • Parks - Maintains the City's park system and public grounds.

  • Streets - Work consists of road patching, grading, snow removal,  and street cleaning.

  • Wastewater - Maintains and monitors the wastewater treatment facility, all lift stations and distribution lines and performs locates.

  • Water - Provides fresh, clean drinking water to the community by monitoring well production, maintaining the water treatment facility, water lines, water meters, and pumps. The water department is also responsible for reading the water meters, handling shut-off/turn-on requests and performing locates.

Billing of water and sewer is handled through the City Clerk's Department.
