The Planning Commission is the body that reviews development proposals for compliance with the City Code and makes recommendations to the Governing Body in the following areas:

  • Long range plans and maps for the City and plans for public improvements within the City
  • Plats and development plans proposed for property within the City
  • Zoning and rezoning of property within the City
  • Plats and development plans proposed for property within the City's area of influence, but outside of the City limits
  • Zoning and rezoning of property within the City's area of influence, but outside of the City limits (recommendations are made to Sedgwick County)
  • Vacation of platted setbacks, easements and rights-of-way on property located within the City

The Commission consists of eleven members appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Governing Body.

Meetings

Regular meetings are held at 7:00 PM in the Council Chambers at City Hall on the 2nd and 4th Thursday nights.  The Commission meets only on the 2nd Thursday of the month in November and December.
