The Haysville Historic District Committee is a sub-committee of the Haysville Planning Commission. Their function is to promote the educational, cultural, economic and general welfare of the community by:

  1. Providing a mechanism to identify and conserve the distinctive historic and architectural characteristics and other historic resources of the City of Haysville, Kansas, which represents elements of the City’s cultural, social, economic, political, and architectural history;

  2. Fostering civic pride in the beauty and noble accomplishments of the past as represented in the City’s Landmarks, Historical Areas, and historic resources;

  3. Conserving and improving the value of property in and around designated landmarks, historic areas, and within the community;

  4. Enhancing the attractiveness of the City to residents, current and prospective home owners, visitors, and shoppers, and thereby supporting and promoting business, commerce, industry, and providing economic benefit to the City;

  5. Fostering and encouraging preservation, restoration, and rehabilitation of structures, areas, and neighborhoods;

  6. Fostering and encouraging the studying, interpreting, and publicizing of historic resources.

Master Plan

In 2003 the City of Haysville adopted this Historic District Master Plan.  The Historic Committee has prioritized these items and are now working to put together cost estimates and timeline for the completion of the Plan.

 

 

Members

The Historic Committee consists of seven members which are residents or property owners of Haysville.  Members are appointed by the Governing Body.

Meetings

The Historic Committee meets at 5:00 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month.  The meetings are held at City Hall, 200 W. Grand. For more meeting information contact Georgie Carter.

4:00pm - 8:00pm Every Tuesday from May 13 to September 23 in the Haysville Historic District

3rd annual spring festival for kids held on May 10 from 10:00am-2:00pm in the Haysville Historic District.

 

Village Christmas


The Village Christmas takes place on the first Saturday of December in the W.W. Hays Village Historic Park, located on S. Main Street.

 

Wire House Art Gallery


Coming soon…Wire House Art Gallery!! The new art gallery is set to open on April 19th with a show by Campus High School Seniors. The gallery will be located in the Wire House in the Historic District and will be open on Tuesday evenings from 4:00pm-8:00pm (during the Hometown Market).
